The eighth edition of Fondali Puliti , the historic national event organized to rid the coasts of abandoned waste, concluded successfully in Castelsardo. Yesterday, Sunday, September 13th, about forty volunteers gathered at the port of Castelsardo to assist divers—surrounded by a pod of dolphins—in their search for debris on the seabed. The event, organized by the Municipality's Department of the Environment, led by Christian Speziga, resulted in the recovery of approximately 50 traps and 150 kilograms of plastic. The day was made possible thanks to the invaluable support and coordination of the Coast Guard and the commitment of several marine teams—led by vessel captains Roberto Balzano, Armando Cimino, Salvatore Mela, and Riccardo Cimino—as well as the sea guardians of Mistral Diving and AsdIsula, the Lega Navale Castelsardo section, the CVSM, the Econova company, Mara Loi of Conad Castelsardo, and Super Concas Sisa Castelsardo. The volunteers also included experienced divers such as Romano Ieran, with over 4,000 dives in the Gulf of Asinara. "This day was very valuable for our region," commented Councilor Speziga. "Clean Seabeds is a valuable initiative for the protection of the marine environment and for raising awareness among the community. The Municipality has long been committed to these issues and recently organized the first awareness day dedicated to Posidonia oceanica, promoted by the Coastal Conservation Authority. Today, another important event dedicated to the protection and enhancement of our environmental and cultural-archaeological heritage took place.
