Big fire in the countryside of Domus de Maria , in the locality "P.ta sa Pala de Ammettiu".
The Forestry Corps intervened with the support of two helicopters departing from the Villasalto and Fenosu bases to put out the vast blaze spreading through the Mediterranean scrub.
The fire also reached a few scattered houses in the countryside. Several ground crews were also on site, with the director of the Teulada station coordinating the extinguishing operations.
"Thanks to the arrival of the second helicopter and the teams on the ground, the fire has been extinguished, and cleanup operations are now underway. There's a bit of wind, and we need to be careful to prevent the flames from starting again," said Domus de Maria mayor Maria Concetta Spada, who joined the rescue team in the area where the large blaze broke out, near state highway 195.
«As a precaution and with the help of the firefighters, we have removed three families from the house, seven people in total with
some disabled people, and fortunately the flames did not reach the houses - he added - now they are being assisted by us".
Meanwhile, the "drops" of extinguishing agent from the two light helicopters that intervened on the scene continue.
