A Little Plover nest found on the beach of Isula Manna in Lotzorai. It was a local citizen who made the discovery while walking: he saw the small specimen intent on nesting on the sand. Around the eggs the nest was decorated with small pebbles, fragments of shells and dry twigs.

Without disturbing the Courier, he immediately called the Forestry Corps agents to report the happy and rare event. The staff of the Tortolì station and the Arbatax Naval Base immediately worked to implement actions to safeguard the nesting site. A metal net has been positioned around the point and forestry staff will monitor its progress until it hatches.

Incubation should last approximately 24-25 days but, not knowing the day of laying with certainty, it is difficult to estimate when the young chicks will be born. «The Little Plover is a protected and protected migratory species. The presence of these nests on the Ogliastra beaches testifies to the high conservation value of the natural coastal habitats which can become fragile if they are not adequately protected", comments the director of the Lanusei Forestry Inspectorate service, Giovanni Monaci.
