A gigantic cloud of Saharan dust is about to cross the Sardinian sky.

The forecast is from the atmospheric monitoring service of Copernicus, the European Commission's environmental agency that deals with pollution.

The enormous mass of Pm 2.5 will travel southeast, the experts write, first passing over the island, with particular intensity of the phenomenon between today and tomorrow, to then go towards Sicily.

Saharan dust, as explained by the CDC (Center for disease control and prevention) «can be harmful to health. The particles can be breathed in and enter the lungs and bloodstream, potentially triggering asthma attacks in people with asthma and aggravating other respiratory conditions. Saharan dust worsens air quality and increases levels of particulate matter in the air.
