Maximum alert is in effect in the Portoscuso countryside , where a fire that broke out near the town is threatening several homes and has already forced the evacuation of one family. The flames broke out in the "Case Pinna" area , a short distance from the municipal sports field. The fire has been classified as an urban-rural interface fire , due to its dangerous proximity to several homes scattered around the area.

The rescue operation is underway, with two twin-engine AS332 Super Puma helicopters taking off from the operating bases of Iglesias and Fenosu, respectively. Given the need to contain the fire, the regional operations room has also assigned a third helicopter , from the CFVA base in Pula, to the operation. The fire, which is threatening the pine forest adjacent to the industrial area, has prompted the activation of the Canadair request procedure.
The extinguishing and cleanup operations are entrusted to the Director of Extinguishing Operations (DOS) of the Carbonia Forestry Station.
