The Tonnara Museum in Stintino hosts a new event in Visioni Sarde, the festival that promotes short films made in Sardinia and highlights the talent of the island's directors. This is an opportunity to discover three films that narrate Sardinia through different languages, emotions, and perspectives. The evening opens with True Love Waits, directed by Sassari-born director and documentary filmmaker Simone Cicalò. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari, Cicalò has developed an artistic career spanning documentaries, music videos, and short films. In this work, he sensitively addresses profound themes such as love, guilt, and the process of mourning, creating an intense and visually evocative tale.

This will be followed by a screening of "Una faccia da cinema," the feature film debut of Sassari-born videomaker Alberto Salvucci. Through a brilliant and ironic narrative, the short film explores the dreams of those who aspire to work in the film industry, amidst expectations, obstacles, and determination, offering a lighthearted yet authentic glimpse into the passions that drive the artistic journey. The program concludes with "Vida e morti di unu maragotti," by director Stefano Cau, a filmmaker who blends folk tradition, fantastic imagery, and cinematic experimentation.

The film tells, with irony and poetry, the story of a ghost from the Marmilla region who observes the world of the living, transforming an ancient legend into an original reflection on the relationship between memory, identity, and contemporaneity. The work won the Audience Award at the 2024 Sardinia Film Festival and received a Special Mention for direction and cinematography at the 2024 Cagliari Film Festival. The screening on Sunday, August 9th at 9:00 PM offers an opportunity to meet three filmmakers who, with their different sensibilities and styles, contribute to the narrative of contemporary Sardinia through the language of cinema.
