A Sassari native dies tragically in Modena. Luigi Vacca, 50, died last Saturday in a car accident in San Giovanni in Persiceto, a town in the Bologna province on the Modena provincial road, while riding his motorcycle.
The tragedy occurred at 1 p.m. two days ago at the intersection of the provincial road and Via Piolino, when the man crashed his BMW motorcycle into a Lancia Ypsilon. Local police were on the scene and suspected the crash may have occurred while overtaking, with the 50-year-old man being struck by the car as he was turning.
Vacca, a longtime resident of Emilia-Romagna where he worked as an IT professional, but who grew up in the historic center of Sassari, died instantly after being thrown from his motorcycle and falling violently onto the asphalt. The driver was uninjured but in a state of shock.
