Over 10,000 euros and jewelry were stolen from a woman, and 1,000 euros from a man.Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The system is always the same: a phone call to the home of an elderly person living alone, posing as a member of the Carabinieri. Then, a request for money or jewelry to help a close relative in trouble. Or, as happened two days ago in Uras, the scammers show up directly at the home.
Thus, under the pretext of checking banknotes on Friday afternoon, some criminals managed to defraud an elderly woman: they stole €10,000 in cash and several pieces of jewelry . They used the same method in Baratili, where a pensioner was defrauded of approximately €1,000 and valuables . The Carabinieri immediately launched an investigation, having arrested two Neapolitans just two weeks earlier for defrauding the elderly.
The provincial Carabinieri command also urged people to exercise extreme caution. In the event of suspicious phone calls or visits, it's always best to call the police. Finally, the mayors urged caution and increased monitoring of the elderly, including by neighbors.
Meanwhile, tomorrow in Santa Giusta and Narbolia, after Mass, station commanders will meet with the elderly and the general public to raise awareness of the risk of scams and offer helpful tips.
