A thirty-six-year-old woman was struck by a car while cycling between Nurachi and Riola Sardo.

Tragedy struck overnight on provincial road 292, which connects Nurachi to Riola Sardo: Silvia Obino, 36, died after being hit by a car driven by a lawyer while riding her bicycle.

According to an initial reconstruction, the victim was headed towards Riola, his hometown.

The accident occurred around midnight near the roundabout. The driver immediately stopped and was the first to attempt to help while waiting for emergency services. Emergency medical services from Oristano arrived on the scene, but there was nothing they could do for the woman: she was already dead.

The traffic police conducted investigations to reconstruct the accident and determine any liability. A further inspection of the accident site was conducted this morning.

Both vehicles, the car and the bicycle, were seized.
