A cyclist was hit and killed by a car this morning on State Road 128, between Mandas and Senorbì .
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the cyclist was already dead when they arrived.
It was difficult for the Carabinieri of Senorbì and Gesico, who arrived on the scene with station commander Mandas, to trace his identity: the victim had no documents with him and his phone was blocked.
It only transpired that he was around 60 years old (and not 50 as initially reported). The driver of the car, a Citroen C3, was a 43-year-old woman.
The impact, which caused the cyclist's body to smash through the vehicle's windshield, may have been caused by poor visibility due to the sun, which was still low on the horizon at that time. However, to be certain, we need to await the results of the investigation.
