An army of over 300 people, united in the name of inclusion. First and foremost, they were the young people with disabilities, members of Oftal, the association that transports the sick to Lourdes, with the Villa Chiara center in Olbia. They came from all over the island to spend three intense days of joy and friendship at the traditional Pentolaccia event, but with carnival-like touches, with a large-scale event held at the Hotel Mercure in Olbia. Yesterday was a memorable evening.

A huge celebration, with improvised, often original costumes, that saw countless wheelchairs on the dance floor, dancing wildly, in a spirit of joy and inclusion. Hundreds of volunteers participated, spending three days alongside disabled wheelchair users.

"This event responds to the needs of those experiencing suffering and who await this moment to be together, in the spirit of inclusion and friendship," says Tore Acca, regional president of OFTAL. "They came here from all over the island. There were no protocols to follow, just openness to their disabled friends. After New Year's Eve, Carnival was also a time of gathering and happiness for many." The celebrations concluded today with a communal lunch. Everyone returned home happy, awaiting the next events, including pilgrimages to Lourdes, scheduled for July and early September, interspersed with summer holidays.
