Three young people, including a minor, were caught by the Carabinieri while attempting to burgle the home of a ninety-year-old woman in Sant'Antioco . The operation involved Carabinieri officers from the Sant'Antioco station and the Carabinieri Radiomobile Unit of the Carbonia Company, and resulted in the arrest of the two adults.

The alarm was raised by a neighbor who, suspicious of unusual noises coming from the apartment next door, contacted 112. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the front door showing clear signs of forced entry. Once inside, the officers immediately spotted one of the young men attempting to escape through the rooms.
The search of the building led to the identification of the three—an eighteen-year-old and a twenty-one-year-old local, already known to the police , and a seventeen-year-old —while they were trying to hide in a room on the second floor of the building. The entire operation took place while the owner, a 90-year-old retiree, was still sleeping in her bedroom, completely unaware of what had happened.

The search resulted in the recovery of a small sum of cash and several recently stolen items, which were immediately returned to the woman. The two adults were placed under house arrest, while the minor was released to his parents, who will be available to the ordinary and juvenile judicial authorities.
