The incident occurred in the town center: a man wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife burst into a tobacconist's shop, pointing the gun at the owner to demand her handover of the proceeds . The woman's firm reaction, however, prompted the criminal to desist and flee on foot, attempting to cover his tracks.
The escape was brief. The shopkeeper's tip-off brought a patrol patrol on patrol in that very area. Intercepted a short distance away, the robber was immediately apprehended and disarmed before he could escape.
Identified as a 52-year-old local man, the man was arrested red-handed for attempted aggravated robbery and illegal possession of a weapon .
