A 30-year-old man disembarks at the port of Olbia with 23 kilos of pure cocaine hidden in his car.
The discovery by the Guardia di Finanza soldiers, also unmasked by the nose of the drug-sniffing dog DanteHe was carrying 23 kilos of pure cocaine, divided into 20 blocks , on board his small car , which was loaded onto the Tirrenia ship from Civitavecchia. This is what the Guardia di Finanza discovered yesterday morning at the port of Olbia .
On board the vehicle was a 30-year-old man originally from the province of Latina , arrested in flagrante delicto on charges of drug trafficking.
The man's nervous demeanor, accompanied by evasive answers regarding the reason for the trip, attracted the attention of the police and prompted them to conduct a more thorough investigation. This was also prompted by the report from the drug-sniffing dog Dante, who was particularly "attracted" by the vehicle. The investigation revealed a sophisticated false bottom hidden in the passenger compartment , with a secret compartment equipped with a mechanical opening system containing the precious cargo.
The substance, if released on the market, would have earned the criminal organizations an estimated profit of over 2.5 million euros . The large quantity, the Guardia di Finanza explained in a statement, suggests there are links to organized crime in the drug trade from the mainland to the island.
At the end of the operations, the man was arrested and taken to prison in Bancali, at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor of Tempio Pausania.
