Sentenced today in court in Sassari for threats and defamation against Lega MP Eugenio Zoffili.

In 2020, a 34-year-old from Ozieri, using the username Ajeje Brazori, called the Northern League representative a "sack of s..." on the MP's Facebook page. He also wrote: "We have long memories, and I hope one day to be able to fill you all with lead."

At the time, Zoffili was the regional coordinator of the League, and in the post with the defendant's comment, he announced a demonstration to discuss plans for Italy's post-pandemic recovery.

"I was concerned when I read those words," Zoffili said in court three years ago, "also from a family perspective." Hence the politician's complaint and the trial, in which he was represented as a civil plaintiff by lawyers Matteo Celva and Francesco Porcu, while Ica Cadau defended the defendant.

Judge Elena Barmina handed down the sentence, sentencing the now 34-year-old to a €2,000 fine, with a suspended sentence. She also ordered compensation to be paid in a separate civil proceeding and an immediately enforceable provisional sum of €7,500.
