Carabinieri from the Sassari investigative unit arrested a 26-year-old man at dawn yesterday after receiving a definitive sentence of 10 years and six months in prison for gang rape and drug dealing.

The facts date back to 2021 and 2022, when the convicted man, together with a peer, had sexually abused a girl of the same age, and a few months after the rape charge he was found in possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing.

The young man was convicted by the Sassari Court, a sentence later partially overturned by the Court of Appeal. Yesterday, the Carabinieri arrested him at his mother's home. The 26-year-old did not resist arrest and is now being held in the Bancali prison to serve his sentence.
