A 19-year-old man felt ill shortly after emerging from the water and collapsed on the beach . His condition is serious and he was transported aboard the Areus Echo Lima 3 helicopter, which arrived from Elmas, to the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro. He is in intensive care.
The incident occurred around 1pm today on the beach of Tancau, a hamlet of Lotzorai .
According to an initial reconstruction, the young man, of Piedmontese origins but a guest of friends from Ogliastra for a holiday , spent a few minutes in the water to combat the heat of the day.
Upon exiting the boat, he suddenly felt ill . He lost consciousness and was assisted by lifeguards, some of whom were lifesaving experts. Shortly thereafter, two emergency medical teams arrived, the Green Cross of Tortolì and the White Cross of Baunei, who worked extensively, using a defibrillator, to resuscitate the boy. Meanwhile, the helicopter landed, and the on-board doctor continued the operation. The boy was transported unconscious.
