There is the family doctor of Loceri who at the age of 74 resumed practicing so as not to abandon the citizens of Seui who would not have had a white coat to go to. But the Region is formalizing the offer to all 70-year-old doctors who could retire: "Stay up to 72". Delaying the release could help fill the big gaps in headcount.
«It is not an easy choice, if we consider how heavy and complicated our business has become. Continuing to be in service beyond the age of 70 could make sense if we were supported by young trainees to whom we could slowly pass the baton, they would help us move forward, continue training and get to know the patients. But like this, with current conditions, I honestly don't know how many colleagues will be willing to "sacrifice themselves"», says Giuseppe Vincis, general practitioner in Masainas.
"The situation is serious, there has been a lack of planning in the past and today we are facing a tsunami: white coats are retiring, there is not enough turnover and communities - made up above all of the elderly - without basic assistance are constantly increasing moreover".
In recent days, Ares approved the final ranking but excluded first-year students from the specialization course.
