The Region is preparing to transfer €40 million of FSC funds, allocated last May by the CIPESS (Inter-Ministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development), to the Sassari Industrial Consortium for the revitalization of the Porto Torres production area. The agreements between the Regional Department of Industry, represented by Emanuele Cani, and the CIPESS, led by Simona Fois, are imminent. At Friday's meeting, they reviewed the timeline for the interventions.
"The signing of the agreements and the operational start of construction sites mark a concrete step toward the regeneration of the Porto Torres industrial hub, with interventions aimed at enhancing the areas, promoting environmental sustainability, and revitalizing the region's economy," explains Councilor Cani. "The Councilor has shown great attention to the revitalization of our industrial area," emphasizes President Fois, "and we shared a clear vision of strategic objectives. If all institutional stakeholders work together, results will soon be achieved. The activities underway confirm that we are on the right path." Meanwhile, the tender for the demolition of the former Cementir lot is being published, with the goal of awarding the contract by the end of the year.
The project, currently undergoing approval by the Conference of Services, involves a strategic area in the hinterland, part of a broader plan to decommission approximately 46 hectares of decommissioned industrial land. For the other hinterland areas, the CIPS is completing the acquisitions, preparing the tender for the design of the works, which will be followed by the awarding of contracts for the remediation works according to the planned timeline. Furthermore, design tenders are underway for additional infrastructure projects financed by FSC funds, including the extraordinary maintenance of the consortium road network in the three industrial areas, the completion of the gas network in Porto Torres, and the expansion of the tertiary sector of the consortium's wastewater treatment plant.
