The long-awaited day has arrived. Cagliari, too, was able to observe the solar eclipse that crossed Europe's skies today, with the lunar disk covering much of the Sun, even from the Sardinian capital.

As early as 6:00 PM, people from the city and the surrounding area began to flock to the best vantage points, including Viale Buoncammino . Around a hundred people gathered in front of the former prison to ensure they didn't miss the event. They had everything they needed to gaze skyward without risking their eyes: special glasses, filters, plates, and even a few welding masks.

Some arrived equipped with cameras and lenses, others opted for more improvised equipment, and others simply stopped to observe along with the others. A small crowd that for a few minutes left the city streets to gaze skyward.

In Buoncammino, however, the sky didn't offer the spectacle many had expected. Clouds occasionally obscured the sun, forcing those present to wait for every clearing of the sky with their instruments at the ready . "We were ready; the only unknown was the cloud," says Giovanni, armed with protective glasses and lens filters.

Michele and Eleonora, who arrived from Quartu with their children, were also present. "This was advertised as one of the best spots. It's not the first time we've seen an eclipse; we came mainly to show it to the children." For them, too, however, the clouds somewhat spoiled the anticipation: "It's a shame; we'll see the shadow. We explained to the children what it consists of, at least."

Something finally came to light. "I saw part of it, and it was very pleasant," says Gianluca Sanna. "Maybe we should have gone to the Castle of San Michele, where there was a more open passage. Anyway, it was a beautiful sight."

For those who managed to catch the sun through the clouds, even a few seconds were enough to transform the wait into a spectacle. Glasses, cameras, and filters remained pointed skyward until the last possible moment, hoping to take home at least one image of the eclipse.
