Beaches already full, rescue stations still empty. And it is not known who should fill them with operators, nurses, drivers and ambulances. Less than 48 hours from the hypothetical start of the summer activities of the 118 stations in the coastal locations of Sardinia, Areus has not yet entrusted the management of the services.

The call for expressions of interest, aimed at voluntary associations and social cooperatives, was published on May 15 (almost a month ago) on the basis of a resolution by the extraordinary commissioner Angelo Maria Serusi, who had acted in time. The deadline for submitting proposals expired last May 25. The locations under agreement to be covered, almost all for 24 hours a day starting from Sunday 15 June (and until 30 September), are: Villasimius, Domus De Maria, Costa Rei (Muravera), Torre delle Stelle (Maracalagonis), Plag'e Mesu (Gonnesa), Torre dei Corsari (Arbus), Is Arutas (Cabras), Is Arenas (Narbolia), Fertilia (Alghero), Platamona (Sassari), Porto Rotondo (Olbia), Abbiadori (Arzachena), Loiri Porto San Paolo, Vignola (Aglientu), Costa Paradiso (Trinità d'Agultu), Santa Teresa Gallura and San Teodoro, Sos Alinos (Orosei) and finally Galtellì.

The participants do not set up the machine overnight: there are staff to recruit, ambulances to find, any rents for accommodation to agree on (and pay). All to be available to the bathers (thousands and thousands) who can be assisted in the event of an accident. The service should start one minute after midnight on Sunday. No one knows anything yet. And anger is mounting among the workers.
