"The numbers of the labor market in Sardinia do not lead to optimism on this May Day which represents an opportunity to relaunch our mobilization towards the national government and the regional council , whose responsibilities in failing to manage emergencies and in adopting necessary measures for the possible solutions are evident ».

Thus the secretary of the CGIL Sardinia Fausto Durante , who on the day of the workers' day will be in San Gavino to participate in the initiative organized in the square
in front of the Portovesme srl foundry.

The CGIL will also be busy, together with the other organizations and associations in Nuoro , starting at 6pm in Piazza Italia and then all day in Olbia , on May 1st at the Fausto Noce park.

THE DATA - According to the data analyzed by the Regional CGIL Study Center, the employment rate on the island is 54.9%, a figure lower than the national average and very far from European standards, while unemployment is 11. 8%, nearly four points above the national average , with a level of active labor force participation
not at all satisfactory for young men and women. At the same time, reports the CGIL, the diffusion of jobs with temporary contracts does not seem to decrease, a fact confirmed by the fact that 87% of the employment relationships activated in 2022 concern fixed-term or seasonal contracts .
«A situation - continues Durante - which must not prevent us from looking at May Day, the most solemn day of celebration and commitment in the world of work, with a spirit lacking in confidence: we are convinced, in fact, that the workers' movement in Sardinia continues to have both the ability to indicate a radical change of perspective and the strength to actually put it into practice, engaging in open confrontation or conflict, if and when necessary».
