A multidisciplinary program for the fall season, from October 1st to December 14th in Cagliari, Nuoro, and Paulilatino. Reconfirmed by the MIC, Sardegna Teatro - Teatri delle Città is launching with a new name and a broad program: a festival dedicated to children, new creations, experimental performances, participatory projects, premiere productions, and the announcement of international artists.
"Reinventing theater outside of the theater, where the work is not separated from its context and the audience is not a spectator but an active participant," explains Massimo Mancini, general director of Sardegna Teatro. Two national premieres are planned: on October 10, 11, and 12, Antonio Rezza & Flavia Mastrella, Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement 2018, will return to Sardinia to present their work Metadietro at The Space in Sestu. At the Grazia Deledda Theater in Paulilatino, on October 16 and 17, Motus, a company founded by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Francesconi Nicolò, will stage Notes for Frankenstein - History of Hate. Ant Hampton, with Borderline Visible, will take the audience on a psychogeographical journey on October 16, 17, and 18.
From Argentina, Gonzalo Quintana and Micaela Fariña will perform La consagraciòn de nadie (Unsuccessful) on October 18 and 19. Trickster-p, the Lugano-based artistic duo, will return to Cagliari with their new collaborative creation, The Game, on October 26, 27, 30, and 31 at Sa Manifattura.
The legacy of Italian colonialism is the theme of Cinema Impero, a performance presented by Muna Mussie for one viewer at a time on November 8th and 9th. Barrani, a production by the artistic collective Corps Citoyen, will explore "out-of-place" presences on November 18th and 19th. Uno Spettacolo Italiano, by Niccolò Fettarappa and Nicola Borghesi, will be at Sa Manifattura on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. "An irreverent work on the possibilities of creating right-wing hegemony in theater, given the established defeat of progressive ideals." Other names include Maria Luisa Usai and Bush Hartshorn with "Old Dog New Tricks," which explores the theme of ageism. Unexpected hyphens—signs of nascent spectatorship—is the theme of the festival curated by Valentina Salis, linked to childhood and "the most accessible imaginative trajectories."
