The photograph comes from new data released by Eurostat , relating to 2022.

The report highlights how all the regions of Southern Italy have employment rates below the EU minimums (i.e. lower than 63.3%), with Sardinia standing at 58.6% , ahead of Puglia (53.4 %) and Basilicata (57.3%), but behind Molise (58.8%) and Abruzzo 62.8%. But the worst data at a national level are those of Sicily, Calabria and Campania, where less than half of the population was employed in 2022. In detail: in Sicily 46.2%, in Calabria 47% and in Campania 47.3%.

It should be noted, however, that the Sardinian figure is growing by 1.6% compared to the previous survey: in 2021 the employment rate on the island was in fact at 57%.
