"An incredible emotion", defined Mattia Bellucci at the end of the game, and it's true. The evening match of the Cagliari Superchallenger gave emotions and entertainment: the victory went to the Italian Bellucci, who beat the favorite Diego Schwartzman 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
A match that certainly also rewarded the public, who remained in the stands despite the temperatures, certainly not spring.
In the first set, the Argentine, seeded number 5, breaks his opponent's service in the opening match and then again in the fifth game. At 4-1, the zero break built by Bellucci is immediately defused by the South American, who serves at 5-2 and closes the set.
In the second set, the Italian takes the chair, breaking serve from the former Top 10 in the fourth and eighth game, while in his rounds of service he risks nothing, even serving at over 220 km/h.
At the start of the decisive set, El Peque surprises his younger opponent and gets up 2-0. It seems the viaticum for the victory of the former Top 10, but the Italian left-footed is not there, wins five consecutive games, ba 40-0, trembles with a double fault, but closes victorious at the second useful match point.
Waiting for Bellucci in the round of 16 is another Italian, Giulio Zeppieri, who also won in three sets, at the start of the day, over Andrea Vavassori.
