«The territorial discontinuity of Sardinia has reached unbearable levels». This was reiterated by Francesca Ghirra, deputy of the Left Green Alliance, who announced a question to the Minister of Transport.

"The territorial continuity regime - he explains - should guarantee a transport service that does not penalize citizens residing in peripheral territories, disadvantaged - such as Sardinia - by an unbearable lack of services which excludes them from communication, transport and energy networks, socio-economic development and slowing the exit from a crisis that risks becoming a condition of permanent underdevelopment".

And yet, despite the fact that the principle of insularity has been included in the Constitution, "Sardinia today is more isolated than ever".

« The flights have reached crazy prices and being able to arrive in Sardinia during the Christmas period is practically impossible. Compared to the territorial continuity in force between 2013 and 2020 there was a reduction in frequencies of 44% and the number of seats available per day decreased by 27% . We are well aware that the logic of the free market would prevent Sardinians from being able to travel adequately and therefore regulatory intervention is essential, but we need to quickly identify a system of continuity that guarantees, in addition to the absence of interruptions, certain times and costs. The current situation is truly intolerable”, continues the deputy.

Ita and Volotea , the carriers that currently manage air continuity without public service charges, have "progressively reduced the frequency of the routes, while increasing the fares for non-residents up to imposing the payment of 400 euros for a one-way journey Cagliari-Milan. The daily connections from Cagliari to Linate have increased from 6 to 4 and those to Rome from 7 to 6. At the Olbia airport there are 3 connections to Rome and only 2 to Milan».

"The new tender published by the Region in October will not overcome the current problems because it re-proposes the same critical issues of the model now in force - concludes Ghirra - We asked the minister if he is aware of this disastrous situation and how he intends to intervene to remedy it" .
