The common thread of the exhibition is represented by megalithism, an element that has distinguished the island since the Neolithic, and which has left tangible evidence capable of characterizing the Sardinian landscape even today, such as the menhirs and especially the nuraghi . The exhibition “Sardenya. L'illa megalítica” - “Sardegna Isola Megalitica” was inaugurated at the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya. Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona. The exhibition will be open until November 2, 2025.

The ceremony was attended by the director of the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia, Valentina Uras, the director of the Antiquarium Turritano of Porto Torres, Stefano Giuliani, the director of the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya museum, Júsep Boya, Anthony Muroni, president of the Mont'e Prama Foundation, which is promoting the exhibition, and Luca Fava, Consul General of Italy in Barcelona.

Some museums of the Regional Directorate of Sardinia are involved in the initiative : the Sanna Museum of Sassari, the Asproni Museum of Nuoro and the Antiquarium Turritano of Porto Torres, from which bronzes, jewels, ceramics, inscriptions, historical casts and models were sent.

Overall, the exhibits on display tell the story of Sardinia from the Neolithic to the Roman era, representing an island in the centre of the Mediterranean, a crossroads of contacts and intersections of civilisations, to which international scholars today recognise a leading role in the prehistoric and protohistoric ages.
