Around a hundred awards for excellence in the agri-food sector arrived at the Sardinia Food Awards 2025 , which this year celebrated its tenth anniversary.
The ceremony was hosted by the Rose Mari in Oristano. As usual, Coldiretti Sardegna, a partner of the SFA, presented the 100x100 Sardi awards to two Sardinian leaders around the world: Ettore Sequi , a diplomat and several-time ambassador (he also served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), and Donatella Mulvoni , a professional journalist who, from the United States, contributes to various newspapers.
The Sardinia Food Awards, according to a press release, "are a prestigious annual recognition dedicated to Sardinian agri-food companies of excellence. This event celebrates and promotes quality, tradition, and innovation by highlighting the work of local producers, who help keep Sardinian agri-food traditions alive. The mission of the Sardinia Food Awards is to highlight Sardinia's incredible food and wine heritage, while promoting sustainable and innovative practices in the sector."
A key element of the Sardinia Food Awards "is the promotion of sustainable practices in the food sector. The event encourages producers to adopt ecological and sustainable methods, rewarding those who demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental protection."
"Recognizing Sardinian excellence means supporting a strong, authentic, and constantly evolving identity," said Donato Ala Giordano , the project's creator. "The Sardinia Food Awards community grows year after year, with the goal of showcasing the value of our products worldwide. Unfortunately, many new companies learned about the project too late and were unable to register for this edition. Therefore, together with the juries, we decided to offer all new interested companies the exclusive opportunity to register for the new 2026 edition from July 25th to September 30th."
In addition to the 92 company awards, five lifetime achievement awards were given to Emanuele Dessì , director of the L'Unione Sarda group's newspapers (“His career is a testament to commitment, professional ethics, and a profound knowledge of the Sardinian reality, which he has recounted with respect and expertise”); Angelo Concas , expert on Sardinian agri-food (“With his smile, his vision, and his tireless dedication, he has made agri-food an act of love for the land”); Bastianino Piredda , master cheesemaker (“For having dedicated a lifetime to the world of cheese, carrying forward the art of Sardinian cheesemaking with passion and tireless dedication. Master refiner and custodian of ancient traditions”), Gilberto Arru, journalist and food and wine expert (“A man who has made Sardinia his mission, recounting its flavors, stories, and faces”); Vito Senes, restaurateur (“The heart and soul of the Da Vito restaurant in Sennori, he has transformed a small town restaurant into a point of reference for authentic Sardinian cuisine”).
The Sardinia Food Awards will be held in 2026.
