Three hundred companies competing at the Sardinia Food Awards, the Oscars for Sardinia's agri-food producers.
The awards will be presented on July 19th after the verdict of a jury composed of regional food and wine experts, based on four main criteria: quality, authenticity, sustainability and innovation .
Over the course of 10 years, the event has awarded prizes to approximately 1,200 companies on the island.
There are ten categories: dairy, pasta, preserves, honey, cured meats, liqueurs, craft beers, fish products and many others. And every year the variety of awarded products grows: from carasau bread to bottarga, from sheep's cheeses to Cannonau, up to gluten-free specialties.
"When we launched the Sardinia Food Awards ten years ago - says Donato Ala Giordano , creator of the Food Awards - we could not imagine how much this project would have an impact on the story and recognition of Sardinian agri-food excellence. Today, looking back, we can proudly say that we have contributed to building a virtuous network made up of producers, territories and authentic values. Our goal has always been to give visibility to those who work with passion, quality and respect for traditions and the environment".
From the experience in Sardinia, the format was replicated in fifteen other regions, giving life to a national network.
In conjunction with the Sardinia Food Awards, Coldiretti Sardegna, partner of the event, will propose “100x100 Sardi”, an award to Sardinian personalities who, through their companies, have made the Island known throughout the world.
