Employment is growing and the job offer is growing in Sardinia and institutions and companies are offering young people new opportunities to show off and find the right job.
The Career Day 2023 , organized at the Fiera di Cagliari congress center by Unica, the Sardinia Region and the Aspal Agency, ended successfully.
Hundreds of boys and girls took part in the initiative, which gave them the opportunity to conduct numerous interviews to show their skills and abilities to the companies present.
«Compared to the first edition – explain the organizers – the days have doubled, new initiatives have been added and as many as 34 more companies have joined», underlines Fabrizio Pilo , pro-rector of UniCa for innovation and the territory.
In two days, says Anna Cotza , head of the Job Orientation Sector of UniCa, «over 1100 young people took part in workshops and seminars, around 550 registered for each day. A total of 630 candidates, including students, graduates and doctoral students of the University of Cagliari, presented themselves for the selection interviews. To them must be added the number, several hundred, of young people who presented themselves at the information points of the university and Aspal, or who simply delivered their curriculum vitae to the stands of the individual companies».
In closing, the awarding of the winners of the challenge launched by the company Jobiri, a partner company of the university for the career service and specialized in digital consultancy (based on artificial intelligence) for job seekers.
The group of young people made up of Arianna Cattalini (24 years old, from Narcao , student in social innovation and communication), Giordano Pisu (21 years old, from Carbonia, student in Economics and management of tourist services), Silvia Talana (24 years old, from Narcao, student in Economics and management of tourist services).
Seminars were also held during the Career Day, on the ICT sector and new digital skills, but also on green jobs and the opportunities offered by ecology and the ecological transition.
A total of 84 companies operating in Sardinia took part in the event, including several on a national and international scale, interested in strengthening their workforce with young people trained at university level and suitable for future inclusion in company executives.
GROWING EMPLOYMENT - «The Career Day that the University organizes with the Region of Sardinia and Aspal is an important moment of discussion for young people , who participated in the event with great enthusiasm - explains the regional councilor for Labour, Ada Lai - but also an opportunity for a concrete approach to the world of work. There are opportunities in Sardinia, especially in the fields of digitization and environmental sustainability. During the event, our young people had the opportunity to experiment and meet large companies that need their skills».
« Employment is growing - continues Lai - and if we give the perception that the economy is recovering, companies too will invest in human resources. An occasion of hope for our young people who have to stay in Sardinia to make their talents bear fruit in their land. The continuation of the collaboration relationship between the Region and the University, the most important higher education agency, will be decisive - concludes the councilor -.
THE STUDENTS – «In my experience, what matters is to prepare for the interview and show confidence in one's skills», says Francesca Sanna , a 25-year-old from Carbonia, who participated in the Career Days meeting five companies.
Francesca is a student of the master's degree in Social Innovation and Communication and has returned to study at the university after some work experiences. «I worked as a social media manager in both the public and private sectors and now I'm back to training, in this new course that explores exactly those issues on which I have already gained professional experience. What I appreciated the most about these two days was the attitude of the companies: many are not only looking for skills, but also for the so-called 'soft skills', i.e. those fundamental aptitudes also for working in a team».
"Even when you don't find work right away, participating in events like this always opens up possibilities," says Alberto Pusceddu , a twenty-six-year-old from Quartucciu with a degree in modern philology and an internship in the communication sector.
