Sardinia at the BIT in Milan, Chessa: «We will beat last year's records»
In 2022 arrivals were 7 million, in 2023 a new goal by focusing on international markets as well« Last year's numbers were extraordinary, with over 7 million arrivals on the island. We are ready to break the record, Sardinia can do it ».
This is the comment of the Regional Tourism Councilor Gianni Chessa , who was present this morning at the inauguration of the Sardinia stand at the BIT-International Tourism Exchange in Milan. This year the island wants to play as a group with the protagonists of the event, to promote its tourist offer on a national and international level.
The place in the first team also comes thanks to an exhibition space of over 1000 square meters, created in collaboration with Unioncamere and the Chamber of Commerce, which hosts 57 exhibitors and 114 operators representing the various sectors: from hospitality to tourist consortia. The stand recalls tradition, with large white spaces decorated with friezes, photos and giant screens that tell the story of the island and its wonders.
The message of this 2023 edition of the Bit is clear: there is a desire to travel, in Italy, abroad but also - and above all - in Sardinia . “We offer a region that is alive all year round. Here in Milan we show our authenticity, craftsmanship and excellent food and wine that distinguishes us. Last year we recorded a boom in attendance but we can do better ».
According to Gianluigi Molinari , president of the promotional services center of the Cagliari and Oristano Chamber of Commerce, «2022 was a year of rebirth. After the pandemic, we now have to face an international crisis also given by the ongoing conflicts in Europe. Having lost the Russians we are focusing on alternative markets and we are enhancing other nations and markets that are interesting for Sardinia. This goes hand in hand with the ongoing search for airlines to increasingly connect our airports with the rest of the world. We remain confident."
