The hearing on the Visibilia case, scheduled for the end of March, does not seem to worry the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè, present yesterday at the Bit in Milan: «I am working calmly, I answer everything. I work and carry on the activities of the ministry». Her statements came on the eve of the motion of no confidence branded by the Five Star Movement and also signed by the Democratic Party . The appointment is for today at 2 pm , when barring any surprises, the minister will sit on the government benches of the Chamber to listen to an hour and a half of accusations from the opposition. Santanchè is not expected to reply and could remain silent even on the day of the vote.
The general discussion times are then halved compared to normal, because the center-right unanimously decided not to intervene . The official explanation recalls the precedent of 2024, when the majority rejected the motion of no confidence presented by the opposition, again in Santanchè. Even on that occasion, the majority groups chose not to participate in the general discussion, but to intervene only in the voting declarations. Beyond the officiality, it is clear that the silence of the center-right groups, and in particular of FdI, has a different weight. That the relations between the Tourism Minister and Fratelli d'Italia are at an all-time low is well known, as is the coldness of Palazzo Chigi towards the minister. Indeed, there are those who suspect that the silence of the Azzurri and the League (who publicly defended the Tourism Minister) is motivated by the choice to avoid FdI being the only group not to intervene, effectively certifying a split in the center-right.
The input coming from the upper echelons of the party on Via della Scrofa is to lower the tone, avoid conflict and postpone the dossier as much as possible. On paper, the vote on the motion is scheduled for Tuesday, but as the last item on the agenda. It is therefore difficult, given the topics in the queue, that a response will be reached within the week.
