Great fear for Carlos Santana and the thousands of spectators who were attending his concert.

The celebrated Mexican-born guitarist, who turns 75 on July 20, passed out on stage during an outdoor concert in Michigan. The illness took place on the stage of the Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, not far from Detroit: the musician was immediately surrounded by collaborators and medical staff.

Great fear, someone from the stage asked the audience to pray for the artist collapsed to the ground due to a "serious medical problem", while the nurses carried him away on a stretcher and other collaborators tried to cover the scene with a black cloth. In the end it was nothing so bad that Santana himself raised his hand and greeted the fans to reassure them as they took him away.

Transferred to hospital for observation, the musician promptly recovered: the illness was due to a combination of heat and dehydration , a spokesperson for the gossip site Tmz said, while the manager Michael Vrionis released a statement late in the evening to reassure that Carlos is "fine", although today's concert at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania has been postponed until a later date.

The show had started for about twenty minutes: Santana - it was later understood - had a dizziness during the song "Yoy" and sat in front of the drums, but it was not enough. A little later he passed out and fell backwards .

The concern for his state of health, beyond his age, arises from the fact that in December the singer had suspended the concerts for a certain period for an unspecified " unscheduled heart surgery ".
