From recording studios in Sardinia to jam sessions in London, through world tours with Craig David and Camila Cabello to Sanremo. Luca Faraone has had a glittering musical career: 33 years old, from Assemini, guitarist, composer, author and producer. This year we will see him at the Festival conducting the orchestra for Shablo feat. Guè, Joshua, Tormento. He is also among the authors of the piece “La mia parola”, but also in “Damme 'na mano” by Tony Effe and “Il ritmo delle cose” by Rkomi. Guitar on his shoulder, first musical experiences on the Island, at 19 the big step: a plane to London. «I didn't know anyone», he says, «but I had a dream: to play my guitar on huge stages. I started from small clubs, little by little I created a circuit and I arrived at Craig David».

From jam sessions to a world tour with Craig David?

«An English drummer I knew was called for the audition and mentioned my name, they were looking for a guitarist. There were 70 of us, they chose me. I stayed with Craig David for 3 years. Then I played with Rita Ora, Camila Cabello, Emeli Sandé, Tom Jones, even with the unfortunate Liam Payne of One Direction».

We return to Sanremo, first time in 2022 as conductor and author. How was it?

"On the one hand, it was all extremely new, seen from the inside, on the other, it was like being at home. I have always followed the Festival, from London then with enormous nostalgia."

Tell us about the songs you co-authored.

«Shablo: a piece with 90s-2000s hip-hop roots, which recalls gospel, soul, jazz atmospheres declined in a more modern way. Tony Effe: a different look from what we are used to, in a world that had not yet been explored by urban, but coherent. Rkomi: an aesthetically light and catchy piece, with a deep meaning».

There has been controversy this year because the same authors write so many songs. What do you think?

"It's been like this since the Festival opened up to the latest trends, and the strongest authors of the moment are them. There is space but it's difficult to find valid figures. I assure you, however, that the labels are looking for new people. So, I address emerging authors: come forward".
