«Dear Union,

I am writing to report serious behavior by many tourists frequenting Le Bombarde beach in Alghero. Today I witnessed one of the countless cases of unjustified and unpunished sand removal. In practice we found a plastic bag containing about 500 grams of sand that had been thrown a few minutes earlier into the waste bin by a foreign tourist who was perhaps unaware and in any case insensitive and careless of our Sardinian territory.

I underline the countless times that this happens, the episodes vary from the discovery inside the wastebaskets of 33 cl. cans full of sand with cigarette butts extinguished inside them, to the unwitting core sampling of umbrellas without the tip up to the scene of the two canoeists who, after having floured their canoes with sand, continued their itinerary by land with kilos of sand stuck to their hobbies.

Unfortunately, these are not the only scenes to be told and I believe that even just one intervention of yours can sensitize the municipality of Alghero to put a stop to this unjustifiable and harmful habit.

The quickest intervention by the municipality would be to place signs near the beach that raise awareness, with behavioral rules and sanctions, of the frequenters of this beach".
