Samantha Markle is suing her half-sister Meghan for "defamation and prejudicial falsehood" following the interview she and Prince Harry gave to Oprah Winfrey in 2021. The BBC reports it.
The woman, daughter of Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, claims she was defamed when Meghan claimed "falsely and maliciously" that she was an "only child", statements made in front of "a worldwide audience".

Samantha Markle, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, filed the lawsuit , saying some 50 million people in 17 countries watched Oprah Winfrey's interview, and she 's seeking $75,000 in damages.

In the motion she says the interview "spread false and malicious lies" and subjected her to "humiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale" through "the powerful public relations resources of the royal family".

A motion filed by Meghan to prevent deposition proceedings in the case was denied Tuesday by Florida Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell. The Duchess of Sussex will therefore be questioned in court in July 2023 but Samantha would also have requested the presence of Prince Harry during the deposition , with her testimony under oath and filmed.
