The Convitto Nazionale Canopoleno of Sassari has organized the “Premio Salvator Ruju 2024-2025” for high school students, with the aim of making the poet from Sassari known to even the youngest and at the same time encouraging them to reflect on Sassari and its territory. In a journey entitled “Sassari e dintorni” (Sassari and surroundings) in which the high school students of the Institute have created interesting original works.

The commission was composed of Caterina Ruju, professor of writing in university masters and author of works on Salvator Ruju, Mario Marras and Salvatore Tola.

These are the winners: for the two-year period Franca Paolini 1EA, first prize; Mattia Madeddu 1IA, second prize; Michela Farina 2EB, third prize. Mentions for Pietro Varriale 1EB; Raimondo Flore 1EA; Lorenzo Gavini 2EB. For the three-year period: Stefano A. Pilo 4EB, first prize; Giulia Melani 3EB, second prize; Alice Usai 3EA, third prize. Mentions for Stefania Nieddu 3EB; Denise Piana 3EB; Francesco Muratore 4EB; Susanna Campione 4EB.

In addition to the rector of the Canopoleno, Stefano Manca, the speakers included the director of the University Library of Sassari, Giovanni Fiori, who spoke about the “Salvator Ruju Fund”, Mario Marras, poet, writer and scholar, Giambernardo Piroddi, university researcher, Sandro Ruju, essayist, Salvatore Tola, writer, scholar of local history, Sardinian and Sassarese languages.
