The engine is called M10 and is powered by oxygen and liquid methane . The test took place in Avio's SPTF (Space Propulsion Test Facility) polygon in Salto di Quirra .
The engine, developed by Avio with a thrust class of 10 tons , is the first of its kind to be successfully tested in Europe.
"M10 represents, to all intents and purposes, a new generation green engine, made - Avio notes in a note - with additive layer manufacturing (ALM) technologies".
The M10 engine is part of the development of the Vega E launcher, a project coordinated by the European Space Agency (ESA) and aimed at qualifying the next version to Vega C starting from 2026.
