Salmo shared his diagnosis with basal cell carcinoma on TikTok, posting a video titled "Skin Cancer." In the video, the Olbia rapper shows off his surgery scar and also weighs in on the debate about sunscreen use, sparked by some social media posts by Dr. Debora Rasio.

"Recently, I've been watching some reels of a doctor, whose name I won't reveal, who talked about the devastating effects of sunscreen and skin exposed to the sun," Salmo explains at the beginning of the video. The rapper then observes how there are very different opinions on the topic: "Many have various theories; many say the real problem of skin cancer is due to the food we eat. Now you'll say, 'What do you have to do with this?' Unfortunately, like many others, I used sunscreen, and the result was skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma. This is a scar: it was removed and now it's growing back."

The reference is to the statements of nutritionist and oncology specialist Debora Rasio, who in a video posted on Instagram claimed that "when we talk about melanoma, the first thought is that it's caused by the sun . The data, however, says otherwise: increased sun exposure protects against melanoma." Rasio also stated that "sunscreens increase the risk of all skin cancers, especially melanoma," while "the vitamin D we produce through sun exposure is the most important protective factor."
