Sales kicking off throughout Italy, with merchants confident that this winter round of discounts will be better than the previous ones, giving them a breath of fresh air after the Covid years .
Yesterday, even in Cagliari , the offers made many people pour into the main shopping streets , also thanks to the mild climate, and in the shopping centers of the hinterland. But, considering the day off, the real boom is expected today.
With discounts ranging between 30 and 50% and peaks reaching as high as 70% , the clothing sector is certainly the driving force, mostly large franchises and low-cost clothing chains.
In general it is expected that 65% of Italian consumers will make purchases (+2.7% compared to last year), explains Confcommercio-Imprese per l'Italia, in the wake of a survey conducted in collaboration with Format research. Among those who, on the other hand, will not make purchases, 66% will do so to save money, while 1 out of 3 due to the worsening of their economic situation . Again from the same survey, it emerges that trusted shops are confirmed in first place for half of Italians (50.4%), while online is chosen by 40.3% . Overall, the turnover will amount to around 5.3 billion euros and will involve 15 million families, estimates Cna Turismo e Commercio.
The average expenditure will be 150-200 euros per person , figures in line with last year, with clothing items once again at the top of the purchasing preferences of Italians (93.8%), followed by footwear (83 .6%) and accessories (40.6%) while sporting goods recorded the greatest increase compared to last year (+2%), according to data from the Confcommercio survey. As far as prices are concerned, the National Consumers' Union reports a "decrease in fake discounts, excessively inflated" , exceeding 50%, which stood out on many shop windows last year.
However, the association invites you to remain vigilant. "We invite the consumer not to be enchanted by improbable discount percentages and to always look at the actual price to pay", warns the president of the Unc, Massimiliano Dona, recalling that Istat certifies in an "indisputable" way that on "average the discounts have rarely exceeded 25%» . Codacons underlines that the sales started immediately "with high discount percentages", between 30% and 50%, demonstrating how traders "hope" in the winter sales to "boost" sales. "However, it will be necessary to wait for the next few days to see if the sales will prove to be a flop or will be able to give breathing space to trade," says the association.
