Winter sales kick off on Friday 5 January in Sardinia, with promotions that will continue for two months.

According to estimates by the Confcommercio Research Office, this is a turnover of over 31 million euros in Southern Sardinia (last year 32.8). Shopping will affect 155 thousand people, again in Southern Sardinia. On average, a family (which has 2.25 members, 2.3 at a national level) will spend 198 euros (212 euros in 2022). The cost for each Sardinian will be 90 euros.

«The start of the sales in February would certainly have facilitated trade - explains the director of Confcommercio Sud Sardegna Giuseppe Scura - today the offer for the consumer is greater than in previous years, remodeled with the current weather conditions. The world of commerce today has changed more than ever, more and more, even the so-called neighborhood shops are equipping themselves with online sales".

According to the trade association "there is still a lack of controls against those who offer promotional sales at any time of the year, to the detriment of those who respect the rules and wait for the right periods, imposed by law".

THE RULES – Confcommercio reminds you of the rules for the correct purchase of items on sale.

Exchanges: the possibility of changing the item after it has been purchased is generally left to the discretion of the shopkeeper, unless the product is damaged or non-compliant (Legislative Decree 6 September 2005, n. 206, Consumer Code) . In this case, the retailer is obliged to repair or replace the item and, if this proves impossible, to reduce or refund the price paid. However, the buyer is required to report the defect of the garment within two months from the date of discovery of the defect.

Testing of the garments: there is no obligation, but it is left to the discretion of the shopkeeper.

Payments : credit cards must be accepted by the shopkeeper and cashless payments are favoured.

Products for sale: items offered on sale must be of a seasonal or fashionable nature and be susceptible to significant depreciation if not sold within a certain period of time.

Price indication: the retailer's obligation to indicate the normal selling price, the discount and the final price.
