The summit at the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the revenue dispute between the Region and the Government has concluded.
Sardinia boasts a €1.7 billion debt with the state , and President Alessandra Todde and Budget Councillor Giuseppe Meloni have attempted to reach an agreement with Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti.
According to initial reports, the government has made some overtures, intending to close the deal before launching the national budget.
"The Sardinia Region is confident that the national budget, to be finalized by the end of the year, will contain an agreement on the €1.7 billion revenue dispute," declared Alessandra Todde and Giuseppe Meloni immediately after the summit.
The president, in particular, said that "the foundations have been laid to reach an agreement quickly. We discussed all the outstanding issues, such as the loss of revenue from previous years, and the island's status. And we discussed possible solutions for Sardinia, not numbers that will be the result of an agreement among the experts."
Meloni stated, "The minister seemed open to us, intent on closing this dispute within the framework of the principle of loyal cooperation between institutions. The issues at stake also concern insularity and the loss of revenue from tax reforms. We would like to close the matter for previous years and stabilize our accounts for the future as well, to pursue a plan with reliable resources." And, she concluded, "We are confident that the government, which must finalize its budget by December, can ensure that the agreement with Sardinia is included in the Stability Law . This could be a source of satisfaction for us in the years to come."
At 3:30 p.m., another meeting will take place at the Ministry of Agriculture with Francesco Lollobrigida regarding the issues raised by the Pecorino Romano Consortium regarding tariffs. Agriculture Councilor Gianfranco Satta will be present with the governor.
