In the next political elections, Sardinian voters will have one less representative in the Chamber.

Sardinia , in fact, together with Abruzzo, Calabria, Puglia and the Campania 2 district (the provinces of Caserta, Avellino, Benevento and Salerno) will lose a deputy as a result of the data from the 2021 general census , which by law determines the number of elected in each district. To weigh is the depopulation which has the effect of the decrease of residents and, therefore, of those registered on the electoral lists.

Conversely, the Lombardia 1 district (Milan) will have two more deputies, while Lombardia 3 (Brescia and Bergamo), Lazio 1 (Rome) and Lazio 2 (the other provinces) will be represented by one more parliamentarian.

For the Senate, however, it is Sicily that loses its parliamentarian in favor of Lombardy.

The data, published in the Official Gazette on March 3, was sent to the offices of the Chamber and Senate, which calculated the new seats due to each region.

The new allocation of seats entails a new overall map of constituencies, also because the internal distribution of the population is often changed in the other Regions.

The task, again by law, belongs to the Technical Commission led by the President of Istat, which however is still missing, given that the candidate proposed by the government, Gian Carlo Blangiardo, has not had the consent of the parliamentary commissions required by law.

Beyond the mere numerical calculation, in regions with few inhabitants that lose a deputy, such as Sardinia (which currently has 11 representatives in the Montecitorio hall) , already penalized by the cut in the number of parliamentarians, medium and small parties risk strongly not to elect any deputy.
