"Campo Largo no longer exists, we certify it this evening."

So said Giuseppe Conte, president of the 5 Star Movement, speaking to the Raiuno program Porta a Porta.

The leader of the Five Star Movement has therefore certified the breakdown of the alliance between the PD and the M5S – which among other things led the centre-left to win the regional elections in Sardinia – indicating the desire of the Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein to get closer to Matteo Renzi and Italia Viva as the causes of the failure of the agreement.

"It is clear," Conte said, "that the moment the 5 Star Movement says that a wound has opened, with Italia Viva being put in a large field - which no longer exists, we certify this tonight - from the moment Schlein's response is "I don't create controversy," then something is wrong, the Pd leadership group is not aware that there is a serious problem."

"Despite our respective positions," the former prime minister continued, "there are some points, such as minimum wage and differentiated autonomy, on which a dialogue is being built, but it must be sincere and authentic. We have a path to take, many clarifications to make."

And again: to go with the Democratic Party today "we are not ready, but this does not mean that we do not recognize the concrete steps taken. There is a ground for dialogue to start from, but we also need to understand each other in the method".
