The Sardinia Region, on the proposal of the Labor Councilor Alessandra Zedda , approved the allocation of the resources necessary for the maintenance and renewal of the licenses of captains and pilots placed in CIGS / NASPI in 2021 and this year.

An additional loan of 150 thousand euros which supplements the agreements already signed and which will ensure the maintenance of the skills of the former Air Italy technical staff.

Not only that: through the Sardinian Agency for Active Labor Policies, Aspal, the department will start a reconnaissance that generally includes the category of captains and pilots also of other companies (placed in CIGS / NASPI after 3/9 / 2020 and residents in Sardinia on the date of activation of the social safety nets) to quantify any costs to be incurred for the training necessary for the renewal and maintenance of the licenses and to guarantee the reimbursement for those who, even in difficulty, had already activated independently.

Other carriers, in fact, due to the crisis have activated collective dismissal procedures .

"The goal remains that of encouraging a possible employment relocation and safeguarding existing professional skills since the maintenance of active licenses has already allowed staff to participate in various selective screenings that have led to subsequent recruitments - explained the commissioner Zedda - qualifications are now expiring again, but at a time when the aviation sector appears to be recovering, the loss of licenses would entail a large penalty for these workers who would not be immediately employable, effectively nullifying all the efforts made by the Region to support of workers, also in light of the additional measures envisaged by the EGF program and in the activation phase, including hiring bonuses and training vouchers ".

"In order to promptly seize the new employment opportunities that seem to be animating the airline sector and avoid the downgrading of the category of workers - continued the representative of the Giunta Solinas - it is necessary to keep the licenses active through a timely certified training / control program. We immediately took action to finance the measure, but going further: with the fundamental collaboration of Aspal today we are also ready to evaluate the opportunity for the Region to intervene by activating other initiatives always aimed at safeguarding the maintenance of qualifications, going to the aid of the entire category where necessary ".
