The Sardinian Democratic Party definitively renounces the primaries to keep the alliance with the center-left and in particular with the 5 Star Movement which had vetoed.

The party leadership unanimously signed an agenda: the strength and unity of the coalition with M5s, Progressives and independentists is more important to beat the center-right in the regional elections than in the primaries which however remain, «in line with what was written in the statute, the method to be preferred for choosing the candidacy for president of the Region".

The Dems have decided not to push on this point: «Taking into account the orientations expressed by the parties and movements, which have shown perplexity and opposition to the primary method - we read in the document - the Democratic Party proposes to the allies to continue in the programmatic and to define by mutual agreement the method for choosing the candidacy for the presidency already in the next coalition meeting".

The main objective, «fundamental to win the elections and free the Region from a disastrous administration and from the cloak of clientelism that conditions every public activity», is the «compactness and cohesion of the coalition».
