Regional elections in Sardinia: the center-left remains split
There is no possibility of an agreement between the Todde and Soru coalitionsPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
In the split center-left the point of no return has almost been reached. On the one hand, the Pd-M5S coalition has invested everything in the candidacy of Alessandra Todde, Five Star MP, even at the cost of losing the support of the other candidate in the field who was only asking for coalition primaries. On the other there is, in fact, Renato Soru, head of the "Sardinian coalition" which also includes Progetto Sardegna, Progressisti, Liberu, Più Europa, Vota Sardigna (Irs, Progres and Sardegna Lavora Sardegna), Rifondazione Comunista. On the side of the former governor, who also left the Democratic Party, the favor of the Progressives weighs like a rock, a party deeply rooted in the Cagliari area, and at the same time the most inclined not to lose hope of a reconciliation with the other party.
Nobody wants to give up. But in the case of the Dem-5S alliance, going straight ahead without looking back risks having a very high cost if it does not prove to be the winning choice. A cost that would have to be paid by those who strongly sponsored the duo in the Democratic Party, without looking at anyone: the national secretary Elly Schlein, and the regional secretary Piero Comandini.
If the center-right prevails and Soru positions himself well, the two democratic leaders should draw the consequences. Voting in Sardinia therefore has a symbolic value.
