From social media debates to courtrooms. As is increasingly the case in the vast virtual arena, sometimes heated discussions arise, and this time, the one who ends up on trial is regional councilor Emanuele Cera.
The FdI representative, assisted by lawyers Ezio Ullasci and Valerio Martis, was sued by Marco Paolo Angius, a Terralba native, for a comment that appeared on Facebook about a year ago. Angius had commented on an online article about healthcare problems: "They actually turned water into wine." Cera responded by tagging the person he was talking to: "You're also funny. It's a shame that anyone who knows you knows how stupid and stupid you are." These words struck Angius as a grave offense, especially since they came from someone who holds a political position.
The prosecutor initially requested the case be dismissed, but the defense, led by attorney Gesuino Loi, opposed it, and the judge ordered the case to be forcibly dismissed. The pre-trial hearing will be held on Friday by Judge Chiara Lai.
