A week of bilateral meetings and negotiations begins on both sides that will present themselves at the electoral appointment in February or March 2024 for the choice of the future president of the Region.

Centre-right

Filling the Palacongressi of the Cagliari Fair, Solinas made his move. He flexed his muscles, sending a clear message to the coalition: there is no need to underestimate the specific weight of the Psd'Az in the next Regionals. The Quattro Mori convention was organized in a few days, immediately after the national center-right table on 6 October. The same one where there was talk of a Sardinia issue because neither the Brothers of Italy nor Forza Italia believe that the conditions exist to re-nominate the outgoing president. Giorgia Meloni's party is pushing for the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu. The Azzurri mentioned three names: the deputy Pietro Pittalis, the regional councilor Alessandra Zedda, the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi. So: Solinas may have made his move but the other centre-right forces did not stand by and watch.

Strengthened by a first official position taken by the national leaders - ten days ago it was Francesco Lollobrigida and Giovanni Donzelli who mentioned Truzzu's name - FdI has already started a cycle of negotiations with its allies in Sardinia. In the meantime, there is a strong demand for an acceleration of the national table which will probably meet again this week. The results will be decisive if the party secretaries speak, i.e. Prime Minister Meloni, Antonio Tajani of Forza Italia and the leader of the League Matteo Salvini. No one from FdI was present at the convention, while for the Azzurri there was only Giuseppe Fasolino who is also vice president of the Region and councilor for programming. The Northern League members were there, but not the coordinator Michele Pais, and Salvini did not send any video message to be shown during the demonstration, while the deputy Dario Giagoni underlined that, even if he had been invited, he would not have participated. The League, through group leader Michele Ennas, only underlined the importance of "a strategic alliance".

The other pole

Even on the opposite front , the new convocation of the center-left coalition table with the M5s and the independentists is expected within a few days. If the assembly of the Democratic Party ratified, last Saturday, the decision not to resort to primaries to identify the candidate, the proposal of Alessandra Todde's M5s, which is increasingly finding its way clear, will have to pass the scrutiny of the coalition and overcome proof of the criteria set at the last meeting. The skein could be unraveled by satisfying everyone and focusing on three profiles that would seem welcome in the polls and with the renunciation of the Democratic Party to the Region and the Municipality of Cagliari: Alessandra Todde for the Region, Massimo Zedda for the Municipality of Cagliari and Gianfranco Ganau for that of Sassari.
