Not an internal skirmish, but a showdown. Alessandro Sorgia, the League's only regional councilor in Sardinia, has chosen the loudest weapon: self-suspension from the party.
A decision that comes after eighteen months of silence, exclusions and closed doors , culminating – he himself says – with the "straw that broke the camel's back": the appointment of the Port Authority commissioner without even consulting him.
His outburst, which has been circulating since the early hours of the morning in journalists' and voters' chat rooms, leaves no room for misunderstanding : "I realized that I have always been a foreign body, and that's how I remained."
These words weigh like stones, coming from someone who, by virtue of his institutional role, should have been a point of reference for the League in the Regional Council. Instead, Sorgia says, he has experienced progressive isolation, marked by a lack of dialogue, a lack of response from the leadership, and total indifference to his political battles.
In particular, he highlights his fight against energy speculation, carried out – he denounces – in silence and solitude .
And it's not the only episode: no one has been called to discuss the island's hot topics, no one has been included in decision-making processes. "It's unpleasant that no one, except in very rare cases, has approached me in person, by email, or by phone in these 18 months. I felt unwanted," he admits bitterly.
The decision to suspend himself from the League therefore comes as an extreme measure: "The party doesn't work in Sardinia, or at least it doesn't work for those who try to wage non-aligned battles. I've tried everything I can to reverse the trend, but nothing has changed."
Despite the rupture, Sorgia promises not to give up: he will continue his work in the Regional Council, "always in the exclusive interest of Sardinia and the Sardinians." He thanks former regional commissioner Michele Pais and current coordinator Michele Ennas, wishing them every success, and dedicates words of gratitude to those who have supported him throughout his political journey.
After the summer, he announced a public meeting to take stock of the situation and relaunch his political project.
